Zach Lieberman
A conversation with the artist, researcher and educator about generative art, making art by writing software, and work that takes human gesture as its input.
Zach Lieberman
Zach Lieberman is an artist, researcher and educator who makes art by writing software. His performances and installations take human gesture as input and amplify it: drawings that come to life, a voice you can see, silhouettes turned into music.
He is a co-creator of openFrameworks, an open-source C++ toolkit for creative coding, and helped found the School for Poetic Computation in New York. His work has won the Golden Nica at Ars Electronica and Interactive Design of the Year from the Design Museum London, and appeared in TIME’s Best Inventions of the Year.
Zach Lieberman talks about making art by writing software, why the art world needs new tools and platforms, a year without travel, and his passion for teaching at the School for Poetic Computation.
